Loxwood Joust is a fantastic family fun day out of mediaeval revelry and mayhem. Watch as your young knights and princesses jump every time the cannons fire and let tales of past battles capture their imaginations. Will they help the Knight Marshall to control his knights and notice their bad behaviour in the all action jousting tournament? And, which will be their favourite, have-a-go archery, sword school, pelt the peasant or getting up close to the graceful high-flying hawks?
Out and about in the recreated mediaeval battle camp there will be fully armoured knights showing what life was like at that time. Traders and hawkers will be selling a range of specialist goods in the mediaeval market place and companies of wandering minstrels will keep you entertained with plays, singing and dancing. Visit ‘The Torture Zone in the Woodland’ where you’ll find The Executioner putting his new rack to use and revel in his gory tales of torture. And, at ‘The Mediaeval Gaming Zone’ you can try your hand at Tafl – a strategy game from the Viking era.
Venture to the Enchanted Woodland to meet the Witches in their den and hear the Mediaeval Baebes’ sing romantic songs of chivalry, love and loss. And don’t forget to listen as the Mediaeval Housewife presents to you the dirty laundry of the Middle Ages and The Copper Pot Cook unveils the myths of mediaeval cookery.
Loxwood Joust is located in Loxwood Meadow, West Sussex, off the B2133 near Billingshurst.
