There really is nothing better than leaving a hair salon with a new do. Every time I step out of a hairdresser, I vow I won’t leave it as long next time… hmmmm 6 months later….
On Valentine’s day I was under no illusion that I would walk into the office and find the contents of a florist on my desk, or a Cartier watch left on my pillow case, or for that matter a violinist serenading me as I strolled down the street. I decided I would treat myself.
As I opened the door of D’s hair creations I was met with huge smiles and a very warm welcome. I had arrived slightly early so took a seat in the salon which had a Cosy living room feel, with deep armchairs as well as a panoramic view of the salon. I couldn’t help but overhear Dee chatting to her client, she took such an interest in what she was talking about as well as remembering aspects of their previous appointment. It was heartwarming to see how attentive and interested Dee was.
I was introduced to Becky who was going to deep condition my hair. She led me over to the basin where she ensured I was sat comfortably before she began. She also gave me a chocolate heart for Valentine’s Day. A sure way to become a firm
Becky checked that I was happy with the temperature of the water and began with a deep cleanser. This ensured that all the impurities came out. The next treatment was the Black Caviar range that ensured all the moisture was put back into the hair, followed by a shampoo and a light conditioner.
Once sat in front of the mirror I had a deep head massage using a hair mask infused with silk protein. The massage was brilliant and lasted for a generous amount of time, it was nice and peaceful within the salon, with a very relaxed feel to it. I had to wait for 5 mins to ensure the hair mask had a chance to sink into the hair.
In that time Gemma returned. Gemma had been out doing a home visit. This is not something the salon promotes or advertises; however, this is an elderly lady who is unable to leave her house now and has been a loyal customer to the salon for years. Dee and Becky were concerned about how she was, and Gemma explained the customer had tried to tip but she had refused to take it. Seeing the three of them chatting them about this customer was humbling and so apparent that their spirit of local community really is the foundations of the salon.
As I was having the hair mask washed out Dee received a package of merchandise as she is now and official partner of Loreal. She was so excited to open it and see what had been sent, you could see the pride all over her face. Another genuine indication that Dee really loves what she does and takes great pride in it.
Dee then blow dried my hair. She used coconut moose to ensure it did not go rock hard, as well as allowing the shape to hold for tomorrow as well. Dee gave me some helpful tips about how to dry it when I style it at home as well as how to keep the body of it. I left feeling confident and my hair feels like velvet.
I can’t wait to go back for another treatment. This time I will not leave it 6 months!
