Walking The Parables of Jesus at Wintershall
Monday 28th June – Saturday 3rd July
This summer, immerse yourself in The Parables of Jesus at Wintershall.
Watch the Wintershall Players bring to life the stories that Jesus told in short, captivating scenes and take time to reflect on their meaning in our ever-changing world.
The powerful biblical outdoor drama takes you back in time to just after Jesus’ death, recreating his life-changing teachings. Walk from scene to scene through the beautiful grounds of the Wintershall estate with its lakes and ancient woodland, witnessing the re-enactment of the remarkable and unforgettable Parables of Jesus.
The parables are as relevant today as they were 2000 years ago.
The Wintershall Players have become renowned for their epic re-enactments of stories from the Bible. Their awe-inspiring full-scale re-enactment of The Passion of Jesus was first produced in London in 2010 and the play quickly became a highly anticipated Easter fixture. Supported by the Mayor of London, the open-air production, performed in the shadow of the National Gallery, regularly attracts more than 20,000 people to its two performances. Each summer The Life of Christ has been presented at Wintershall, but this year the traditional play will be replaced by this new experience.
From 28th June to 2nd July, school groups will be able to examine the parable stories in a variety of interactive and exciting ways. These reflection times will provide the opportunity to explore and respond to the experiences that we have all been through over the past year. Due to ongoing social distancing, schools will be allocated either a 9.30am – 2.30pm slot or a 9:45am to 2:45pm slot.
On Saturday 3rd July, adult groups and families are invited to attend and they will be allocated into groups of a maximum of 60. Performance timeslots are 10am – 12.30pm or 2pm – 4.30pm and after their walk, audience members will be able to enjoy a picnic lunch or tea in the grounds.
The Parables is directed by Vicky Paine and produced by Charlotte de Klee. The cast is made up of volunteer actors and stage crew from in and around London and the South East.
