Coffee, cake and quiz supports Australian bushfire victims!

(‘3E London’, winners of a special ‘Coffee, Cake & Quiz Morning’ organised by Leatherhead Rotary Club at Layla’s Coffee House in Leatherhead High Street on Friday 21st February 2020)

What better way to spend a Friday morning than enjoying a cup of coffee and a slice of cake, whilst also taxing your ‘little grey cells’ and raising money for a very worthy cause?

And so it was that over 30 enthusiastic quizzers assembled at Layla’s Coffee House in Leatherhead High Street at 10.00am on Friday 21st February to take part in a special ‘Coffee, Cake and Quiz Morning’ being organised by Leatherhead Rotary Club in aid of the Australian Red Cross.

After four challenging rounds of ten questions each, on a range of general knowledge subjects, together with a special 20-point ‘Where in Surrey?’ picture quiz, ‘3E London’, emerged triumphant out of the six teams taking part, with a score of 38.5 points out of a possible 60, narrowly beating ‘The Has-Beens’ and ‘Regan’s Team’ into second and third place with scores of 37 points and 36 points respectively. ‘The Mole Walkers’ picked up the booby prize for coming last, albeit with a still very respectable score of 29 points.

As well as the quiz itself, everyone present enjoyed a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake, courtesy of Layla’s Coffee House, and over £350 was raised for the Australian Red Cross to support the victims of the recent bushfires in Australia.

Leatherhead Rotary Club would like to thank everyone who supported the event, especially Layla and her colleagues for their very kind hospitality throughout the morning!
