Maggie’s and Box Hill School host the Surrey Cycle Challenge!

A charity cycle ride through the Surrey Hills on Sunday 19th September 2021 to raise money for cancer support charity Maggie’s.

Starting and finishing at Box Hill School in Dorking participants will weave through the beautiful lanes and scenery that Surrey has to offer, choosing between two routes, 50 or 100 miles, while supporting people living with cancer, their families and friends.

People living with cancer need us now more than ever and by taking part in this event, you can make a real difference. Registration is £20 to take part with a fundraising target of either £250 – £350 depending on which route you choose.

Bryn Thomas, Centre Head at Maggie’s at The Royal Marsden said: “As a charity, our centre relies on donations and fundraising events such as the Surrey Cycle Challenge which allows us to continue to develop our unique, high quality programme of support; both practical and emotional. Now more than ever, people with a cancer diagnosis, along with their families, need us. I will be taking part in this event and would be thrilled for members of the local community to join me.”

Director of Communications and Development for Box Hill School, Alison Vernon, “we are delighted to be hosting the Maggie’s Surrey Cycle Challenge on Sunday 19th September for the second year running. It is so rewarding to be working with such a special charity and in doing so, helping to support those affected by cancer. Sadly, we all know of someone who has been touched by this terrible disease. In our own small way through hosting the Cycle Ride, we hope it gives Maggie’s an opportunity to raise much-needed funds for its important work. We send our best wishes to those taking part and look forward to seeing them on Sunday.”

All funds raised from the event will be used to help Maggie’s support people living with cancer and their families and friends. Maggie’s has 23 centres around the UK with the nearest being in the grounds of The Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton. Maggie’s at The Royal Marsden further enhances the world-leading treatment and care offered by The Royal Marsden.

Participants need to register online before the event at Maggies.org/surreycycle. Alternatively, please call 07511165621 or email lydia.spencer@maggiescentres.org
