This year local specialist care home, The Meath Epilepsy Charity has been unable to bring in their usual, vital, fundraised income from events and have been met with unexpected costs posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to specialist residential care for adults who live with complex epilepsy and disabilities, the Meath offers the people they support a broad range of daily, life enhancing activity sessions at their Skills Centre and their Social Enterprise, Changing Perceptions, 133 High Street, Godalming
The Meath’s funding covers only the basic requirements of life and does not stretch to the cost of their life enriching daily activity sessions and regular social events which offer the people they support a sense of achievement, pride, purpose and belonging. The charity’s ‘Sustain and Maintain’ Christmas 2020 appeal is a call to arms for the community at a time of great need. However, The Meath have found a way to give something back to supporters this Christmas.
Unable to attend their spectacular annual Carol Service at St Clement Danes Church, London this year, the charity hopes that supporters will enjoy the Carol Service captured on film in the comfort of their own homes. For those in search of a festive fix as they decorate the tree this year; look no further than The Meath’s You Tube Chanel, from 7th December at 7pm. ‘Carols by the Fireside’ is free to view, but The Meath hope that, in keeping with the spirit of Christmas, viewers will kindly donate to the Christmas appeal having enjoyed the concert. Indeed, the film impressively captures the celestial voices of The Choir of St Clement Danes, the rousing Honourable Artillery Company Band, talented local Tenor Stephen Petch and the wonderfully effervescent Meath Choir, supported by members of Godalming & Guildford Jazz Choir. To enjoy The Meath’s wonderfully festive offering of ‘Carols by the Fireside’, visit https://youtu.be/RSo-t-F78rw from 7th December.
