G LIVE ANNOUNCE NEW PARTNERSHIP SCHOOLS SCHEME WITH GUILDFORD COUNTY SCHOOL

Surrey’s premier arts and entertainment venue, G Live, has announced an exciting new year-long education partnership with Guildford County School, which is set to launch at the beginning of the 2019/20 academic year in September.

Now in its fifth year, G Live’s successful Partnership Schools Scheme offers one local school the opportunity to work with its team of industry professionals on a particular theme or area of development within the arts.

Primarily focussing on creative subjects, each year sees a bespoke programme of activity and support developed in collaboration between G Live’s Creative Learning department and the selected school, which is designed to give students and staff the maximum benefit from the relationship.

This year’s successful school is Guildford County School, an outstanding secondary school which has a specialist music status. Within its thriving Drama Department it offers multiple co-curricula performances every year as well as compulsory GCSE and A-Level performances, and through its new partnership with G Live it hopes to benefit from further exposure to the working world of theatre and industries within the creative arts.

While the details of the forthcoming partnership are still in development, G Live this week welcomed a group of Year 10 students and teachers to the venue for a tour and informal guest reception.

G Live’s Creative Learning Manager, Fiona Moon, who pioneers the programme said “We are delighted to be able to announce our collaboration with Guildford Country School for the next academic year.

“Having built a reputation among local schools over the last five years, the standard of applications was very strong this year. However we were extremely impressed with County School’s application and are excited to have the chance to shape a programme of work to benefit students of all ages in the year ahead.”
