Try Morris Dancing in Farnham

Jackstraws are a group of female Morris Dancers whose members come from Surrey, Hampshire and Berkshire.

Morris dancing is a very sociable form of exercise involving a weekly practice on Monday evenings in Hale, Farnham, from September to Easter and then performances in the area, usually with another team, through the summer. While these generally take place at local pubs we often go to Days of Dance, weekends away and festivals. We also do displays and workshops for a diverse audience which this summer involved displays at Care Homes and teaching a stick dance to a Hen Party!

We welcome enquiries from prospective members, dancers or musicians of melody instruments, at any time but begin our practice season each year with free taster evenings especially tailored to new members.

Our 2019 practice season begins with taster evenings on 16th and 23rd September at Hale Institute Wings Rd, Farnham GU9 0HW from 8-10pm. We generally retire to a local pub afterwards for a chat.

Please wear comfortable loose clothing and suitable shoes for dancing. No experience is necessary as we have expert tutors on hand to guide you. Our taster sessions are open to all aged 16+.

For details please email secretary@jackstraws.org.uk visit our website www.jackstraws.org.uk or just turn up on the night.
