We would like to introduce ourselves; we are Olive & Bloom Grazing, a luxury grazing company based in Haslemere. Having set up during Lockdown 1.0, our business continues to go from strength to strength and we hope to continue to build on this, as we now return to some normality. We hope you might want to hear a good news story!
As busy Mums, both with two boys, we found the stresses of our day jobs and home-schooling during the first Lockdown quite a challenge and were looking for ways to ease the pressure slightly. Having always dreamt of setting up a business together, our conversations repeatedly returned to discussing what we could do. We took our love of food and entertaining and combined it with our creative streaks to create a luxury grazing company, finally taking the plunge, and setting up our business in September 2020. We’re now doing something we both love, we have much more flexibility with our working hours and our children have taken a great interest in how the business is run, and of course, are our chief testers!
To paint a picture of what we do, we create luxury grazing boxes and platters and deliver them to the door within Haslemere and the surrounding towns and villages. The products we select are, where possible, local and seasonal and have been thoughtfully sourced from small independent businesses and British cheesemakers.
Our grazing boxes are filled with cheeses, charcuterie, olives, pickles, antipasti and more, and we have also introduced Breakfast Boxes and Brownie Boxes in recent months, as well as seasonal specials such as Christmas, Valentine’s and Mother’s Day. Over the past 7 months, we have also partnered with several local businesses such as florists, chocolatiers and bakeries to create our boxes and platters.
During the boredom of Lockdown and the absence of dining out, we wanted to bring people something special, an alternative to the traditional takeaway, as well as showcasing the fantastic produce made on our doorstep – grazing was the perfect fit. The grazing sensation is relatively new in the UK, it came over from Australia, where it has been hugely popular due to its highly creative, visual option for social dining.
The business flourished during Lockdown 3.0 as people looked to cheer up friends and family with grazing gifts or treated themselves to a lazy breakfast or enjoyed a cosy night in at home. Now as the weather improves and restrictions are slowly lifting, we are seeing a rise in sharing platter orders, as people start to gather for long awaited reunions, birthday celebrations, hen-dos and other special occasions.
We continue to build the business, with two new boxes being launched in the next two weeks, a limited-edition Father’s Day Box and a Picnic Box that celebrates the best of British. This summer we particularly want to showcase and support British cheeses and will feature a variety of them in our summer picnic box, with recommended pairings of chutneys, meats and drinks. Also, as businesses start to open offices again and people return to the workplace, we are looking to move into corporate offerings such as business breakfasts and lunches.
