“I am the Lady Captain at Betchworth Park Golf Club in Dorking – a Harry Colt designed course overlooked by Box Hill – and during the lockdown, I published a regular Newsletter ‘Fore Ladies’ and included the section the Betchworth Bugle. The intention was to keep everyone informed and entertained, and I suggested that during the lockdown, perhaps the lady members could turn to creating squares of embroidery, quilting, handicraft – anything which represented Betchworth Park and the course – and happier times!
I thought I would be lucky to get a small item to perhaps frame – instead of which we now have a complete work of art, which has been mounted, covered in Perspex with a commemorating plaque for The Covid Quilt – and it is now hung in the main bar of the clubhouse. It looks absolutely perfect in a lit alcove (which seems to have been made for it) and compliments abound.”
Doesn’t it look fabulous?! Ed
