Soul-pop singer/songwriter Chrissie Huntley has won the opportunity to perform at the internationally renowned Glastonbury Music Festival which celebrates another sell out year and is set to welcome over 175,000 festival goers this June. A star on the rise, the Reigate-born 24-year-old is currently studying at the illustrious BIMM Institute in Bristol and will graduate in 2020.
Entered into ‘The Pilton Stage’ competition – designed to celebrate new music and emerging talent – by her university, Chrissie went up against musicians from across Europe coming top of both the heats and the live final. Judges included Michael Eavis, the creator of Glastonbury Festival; Rodney Branigan, professional touring musician and Lisa Pickering, Avalon Field manager and Avalon Cafe programmer at Glastonbury Festival. A surprise three-way win was shared between fellow Bristol based folk-rock band Imprints and Berlin based band The Flavians, all of whom will be performing at the 2019 festival between 26-30 June.
For Chrissie, this opportunity has been a dream of hers since she was nine years old commenting “Ever since I first attended the festival in 2004, it’s been my dream to play Glastonbury. I can’t believe it’s finally come true and I cannot wait to give it everything that I have got”.
Chrissie’s set time has been announced for 14:00 on Thursday 27th June 2019 on the Avalon Cafe Stage where she will be showcasing her soaring, acrobatic vocals, punchy and upbeat brass sections, and uplifting, sparkling expressions of strength, love and happiness.
