Love classical music? This spring, there’s no need to go all the way to London to hear it. At the Leith Hill Musical Festival, you have three fabulous concerts on your doorstep at the Dorking Halls – and with tickets from just £15, it’s much cheaper and more convenient than going to London. Enjoy major works sung by a 150 strong choir from local choral societies accompanied by professional soloists and professional orchestra Southern Pro Musica conducted by Jonathan Willcocks.
Bach’s B Minor Mass, one of the Baroque period’s most celebrated choral masterpieces, starts the Festival series on Sunday 8th March. This is followed on Thursday 16th April with the monumental Sea Symphony, by Vaughan Williams considered to be one of the finest choral and orchestral works. On Friday 17th April enjoy Mozart’s C Minor Mass, a great work from an established master of the classical and romantic era. The Festival concludes on Saturday 18th April with Mirror of Perfection, an exciting and vibrant work by living composer Richard Blackford and Mendelssohn’s enchanting Hear my prayer.
