Absolute Hair and Beauty.
This year has been an absolute roller coaster, from small local businesses all the way up to the supermarket giants. It really has been a year that no one will ever forget. Many independent business owners became local heroes in lockdown, stepping up and going above and beyond to provide their services and products to the community, and now it’s time for us to support them.
Lucy Moore opened her own beauty salon in November 2019, after years of being a mobile beautician, only to find that 4 months after her grand opening, her brand new salon would be plunged into lockdown with so many other local businesses.
After the new government guidelines Lucy was ready to re-open Absolute Hair and Beauty and I went along to have a chat and find out exactly what its been like for these smaller businesses in such uncertain times.
When I arrived I was asked to wait outside as Lucy made sure everything was sanitised after the last customer had left, and then was welcomed in. As soon as I walked in I was made to feel so welcome, I have had it before when I have walked into a salon and almost felt as if I didn’t belong there, because my hair wasn’t perfectly curled, or my skin was flawless. Here it could not have been more different, we had such a giggle about trying to keep cool in the heat it was a really refreshing atmosphere to be in.
Lucy explained that all of her girls are trained in all aspects of the services they offer, as well as offering training to members of the public, should they wish to gain new qualifications or just need a refresher course. I decided to get my nails done while I was there, as Apryll needed some training so it would have been rude for me to deprive her of furthering her knowledge…
As I sat and had my nails done it was lovely to listen to Lucy and Apryll chat away about their regular customers who come in as well as listening to how the parade of shops they are part of really are like one big family. The unity that was felt listening to them chat was really heart warming, these ladies really do go above and beyond for their clients.
Both ladies were so approachable and really welcomed me into the fold as soon as I sat down, we chatted about products that we had tried over the years and Lucy gave me some great tips on vitamins and minerals to try at home, she also explained that she never sells products in the shop that she hasn’t tried and tested at home on herself, so that she can give open and honest feedback to her clients about the products.
Absolute Hair and Beauty really is a one stop shop, with a complete range of services so if, like me, you are in need of a little post lockdown TLC then this is the place for you!
