Still Outstanding 25 Years Later

On Tuesday 7th January 2020, Oak Lodge care home celebrated their 25th Anniversary and Outstanding CQC rating with a large party attended by many across the Basingstoke community.

To celebrate 25 years of caring, Oak Lodge hosted a day of entertainment, which included a photo slideshow of memories made at Oak Lodge with fizz and canapes, speeches from the Mayor of Basingstoke along with the Director and Owner of Forest Care, a 1995 themed quiz, spectacular buffet lunch followed by a very well received Abba Tribute act.

The attending Mayor Diane Taylor kindly said “Oak Lodge is key part of this community. The long service of the management and staff makes a huge difference to the homely atmosphere experienced by the residents. I visit Oak Lodge regularly to see my friends and there is always something going on here to enjoy”.

As a way to reminisce, all the staff and residents presented a photo of themselves from 1995, when Oak Lodge opened.  Many stories of magical memories were shared together. Having worked for Forest Care for over 30 years, Mark Vickery, the Director of Forest Care, presented a photo collage of Oak Lodge’s construction, while narrating a history of the care home. To conclude, Mark proudly announced that Oak Lodge has recently sustained its “Outstanding” CQC rating in its latest inspection at the end of 2019, a fantastic achievement for Oak Lodge.

Oak Lodge has a large amount of long-serving staff, positively affecting the continuity of care the home provides. Frank Fogarty, Owner of Forest Care, handed out gifts of thanks to the staff during the celebrations for their commitment and dedication to care home. Frank recognised that it is because of the hard work of the people employed at Oak Lodge that has allowed it to achieve its 25th anniversary and become award-winning in 2019.

After a spectacular buffet lunch cooked by the care home Chefs, everyone enjoyed a wonderful ABBA tribute act that had everyone singing and dancing.

Oak Lodge would like to say a big thank you to everyone for helping them to celebrate their special milestone. Without the support of the local community, trust instilled by relatives and dedication of staff, Oak Lodge would not have been able to celebrate 25 years of caring for the elderly.
