Blue Monday Football with Surrey FA

VantagePoint supported Surrey FA Blue Monday football session on Monday 20th. The session held at the Surrey FA’s Meadowbank Football Ground, Dorking was aimed at raising awareness of Blue Monday, the saddest day of the year.

Prior to games commencing, Operations Manager Andrew Dickinson welcomed the 30+ people who turned up with a brief overview of mental health issues. This included facts and figures as well as information on how getting involved with sport can have a very positive effect on people’s mental health. There was the option to play a traditional match of 5-a-side football, or walking football – which I opted for.

The 5-a-side match was refereed by Bob Dick and was great fun – although very difficult to not break into a run, or take more than three touches of the ball in a row. It got people out on a gloomy Monday, talking and laughing and enjoying a sport together. Really worth-while, and looking forward to the next one. For more information visit surreyfa.com
