Surrey FA Announce Support for The Amber Foundation

Surrey FA will be supporting local charity The Amber Foundation through a dedicated County Cup Final fixture.

The Saturday Premier County Cup Final on Wednesday 24th April will be partly staffed by Amber residents, who will also be raising funds for the charity on the night. Supporters can come and enjoy an entertaining evening of football at Surrey FA’s fantastic new Meadowbank Stadium home, whilst supporting a great cause.

The Amber Foundation is a charity which offers a fresh start to disadvantaged young people. Amber provides a temporary safe place to live at their residential centre in Ockley, Surrey. They aim to support young people to positively transform their lives and move them into secure accommodation and education, employment or training.

Amber has been supporting young people for 24 years, providing a unique mix of support, structure, new experiences and training that addresses any issues the residents may have. Residents then work on building self-confidence, motivation, self-discipline and their skill set to allow them to move forward with their lives in a positive way.

Coming to Amber was the best thing I’ve done in my life.  My confidence has grown and I feel really safe. I’m working towards going to college to study childcare”. (Amber Resident)

My team leader wasn’t just a worker, he was my inspiration.  He helped me deal with my debts, open a bank account, build family bonds back up, pushed me to follow my dreams and desires and above all he believed in me!” (Amber Resident)

On the night, volunteers from The Amber Foundation will be carrying collection buckets to raise vital funds and increase awareness of the cause. Online tickets are available to buy in advance of the match and those purchasing tickets online will also receive a free digital match programme. Those buying tickets will also have the option to make a donation to the charity at the point of purchase. Tickets for the match can be bought here.

Amber relies on donations and help from people and organisations to fund their work.  You can call them on 01306 627927 to see how you could volunteer, fundraise or help to #EndYouthHomelessness.
